He was born on June 23, 1927, in Duquesne, PA to the late Jerome John and Rella Belle Grooms Dittman. Jerry was a 1941 graduate of St. Joseph's Elementary School and a 1945 graduate of Duquesne Senior High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving at the end of World War II.
