The NDSM Wharf is an interesting place to explore, with its creative spaces, street art, and unique architecture. It’s worth taking some time to walk around before or after your visit to the market.

Don’t be afraid to haggle! Normally, this is one of those tired, stereotypical, hardcore traveler tips I think is rubbish (pay people, for goodness sake!). Still, vendors at IJ-Hallen are fairly open to negotiating prices, so don’t hesitate to make a fair offer on that unique treasure you’ve discovered. As a local, I can attest that bargaining is part of the fun and can make your visit to this iconic Amsterdam flea market more memorable.

The IJ-Hallen market offers a fantastic shopping experience. With easy access to North Amsterdam, it’s a must-visit destination for anyone living in or visiting Amsterdam. We love Oedipus Brewing – we still have questions about the name, but the beer is excellent.
