Dubrovnik's old town is considered one of the best-preserved historical cities in the world. Wandering through its many attractions, cobbled side streets and picturesque bell towers will leave you speechless. Famous playwright, George Bernard Shaw once said: "If you want to see heaven on earth, come to Dubrovnik. Because the beauty there will leave anyone breathless".

The nearby islands to the coast of Dubrovnik include Lopud and Sipan. They are perfect for those who want to visit more than one place with minimal travelling. Just take a ferry ride from Dubrovnik and enjoy the gorgeous scenery as you go. A little further is Korcula, one of Croatia’s most beautiful islands renowned for its walled old town.

Lopud is part of the Elaphiti islands and is famous for its sandy beaches and historical sites. When walking around the island, you may come across a few early-medieval churches, summer manors, and the 15th century Franciscan monastery. Sipan, located opposite Lopud and the largest of the Elaphiti Islands. Its perfect laid back and peaceful setting makes for the perfect escape for rest and relaxation.

If you love history you need to put Korcula on your bucket list. Marco Polo, the worldwide traveller who explored the world, is believed to have been born here. If you are more of an active holiday-maker, it's perfect for windsurfing and exploring by hiking and bicycle.

Split, Croatia's second-largest city, is a beautiful mix of the modern and the ancient. Split's historic old town dates back to the 4th century, which can be seen with its Diocletian Palace serving as a focal point in the very centre of the city. The palace was built by Roman Emperor Diocletian and now boasts UNESCO protection.

Split is an excellent base to island hop around the nearby islands. You can take a ferry from Split to one of the three towns in on Hvar Island; Stari Grad, Jelsa, or Hvar Town. There are three possible routes you can take to get to Brac; Bol, Milna, and Supetar.

Hvar is the most famous Croatian island. It's known for its beautiful beaches, open fields of lavender, endless sunny days and good nightlife options. Hvar has attracted celebrities who come to search for escapism. The countryside is beautiful, hidden bays abound, whilst the food is terrific and the wines are wonderful.

Brac is a beautiful island that's less crowded than Hvar. It's perfect if you're looking to avoid the crowds and is known for its beautiful white building stones, which have been in use since ancient Rome. Brac is famous for its Zlatni Rat pebble beach which is often seen adorning postcards.
